Snaren met meer helderheid dan bijvoorbeeld de 'obligato'. Goed voor instrumenten met een te donker timbre. Heeft iets meer spanning dan 'obligato'. Vooral de 'd' snaar kan lange tijd onstabiel zijn. De soloist variant geeft net wat meer toon en helderheid dan de gewone 'evah' en is daarmee net iets pittiger. In de werkplaats hebben we een zekere voorkeur voor deze laatste.
